Ecommerce Expo Paris 2015

Ecommerce Expo Paris is underway in possibly its busiest form yet, with over 35,000 visitors expected in Porte de Versailles as part of the first ever Paris Retail Week, the new event that aims to bring together the retail and ecommerce community.

Over 300 presentations, conferences and workshops are taking place, providing a comprehensive global vision of what’s next in ecommerce. Over 600 companies are here taking part alongside Risk Ident and we have already enjoyed meeting and speaking with store chains, brands and e-traders to discuss the online fraud issues threatening their businesses today.

ecommerece-parisCredit card is still the largest payment method used around the world and 81% of online transactions in France are made via credit cards. So it’s not surprising then that credit card fraud is the favoured target of fraudsters, who use increasingly sophisticated techniques over time, contributing to rising levels of data theft and ecommerce fraud.

No business large or small can afford to neglect their fraud management training and technologies. This is why we believe in merchants empowering their fraud managers, who hold the best knowledge on their business and customer, which they can apply alongside technology to fight fraud.

This also provides merchants with vitally important transparency. Manual fraud management can be very time-consuming and costly, missing changes to patterns that machine-learning technology can identify and respond to. Meanwhile, technology on its own can cause false positives or misinterpret activity that the fraud manager can make a more informed decision on. Combining the two approaches allows merchants see their fraud patterns and take steps to prevent it happening in the future.
