CNP (CARD NOT PRESENT) FRAUD

A CNP order is a transaction where you, as the merchant, cannot physically check the credit card – so it is usually a transaction that is made online or even over the phone. CNP Fraud is therefore understood to be a CNP order that has been placed without the cardholder’s consent.
As a rule, CNP Fraud is carried out by fraudsters who have stolen credit card data themselves or acquired it on the Dark Web. Common CNP Fraud techniques include Account Takeover or Friendly Fraud.
